How to watch Elon at Richmond college football originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Elon and Richmond are two football teams in desperate need of a conference victory. Elon (1-3, 0-1) will venture outside North Carolina for the first time this season to take on its CAA rival (2-2, 0-1) in a clash of two programs vying for footing in the conference standings.

Elon is coming off a tough home loss at the hands of William & Mary, which was barely able to squeak out of Rhodes Stadium with a 34-31 victory on Saturday. Three of Elon's next four games are on the road, so a win at Richmond could do wonders for its momentum as October begins.

Richmond, on the other hand, has gone cold after winning the first two games of its campaign. Consecutive losses against Villanova and Virginia Tech have put the Spiders back at .500 on the season overall, as they look for a home victory against Elon on family weekend.

Can Richmond get on the better side of .500 with Elon coming to town? Here's how to watch.

ELON at RICHMOND WHAT TO WATCH

This will be Elon and Richmond's third meeting in the calendar year 2021, with the latter nabbing both victories by 14 points each back in March. Elon's defense will be under a microscope on Saturday as it attempts to keep the high-powered Spiders offense at bay.

However, Richmond fans shouldn't get too excited if their squad jumps out to an early lead. Despite being just 1-3 overall on the season, all three of Elon's games vs. FCS opponents have been decided by three points or less this year. In each of those contests, the Phoenix had trailed by double digits at one point, so keep an eye on Elon's coaching staff to make the proper halftime adjustments.
