WATCH: New Chiefs in full uniform for 2021 media production day

We’re finally getting a chance to see some of the new Kansas City Chiefs suit up in full uniform and pads for the first time.

No, training camp didn’t come early. The team isn’t breaking any rules and conducting padded practices ahead of time or anything like that. Instead, they’re sharing some video content of the newest members of the Chiefs from Monday’s media production day.

The Chiefs’ in-house social and production team collected hours upon hours of video and photos of the entire roster. That content will be used throughout the entirety of the 2021 NFL season. That includes the following preview of a number of new players in full uniform for the first time.

Check it out:

In order of appearance, the following new Chiefs players were featured in the video: TE Noah Gray, RG Trey Smith, RB Jerrick McKinnon, DE Joshua Kaindoh, LB Nick Bolton, C Creed Humphrey, DE Malik Herring, WR Cornell Powell, LT Orlando Brown Jr., and LG Joe Thuney.

The entire rookie draft class was featured in the video. It could mean nothing, but it’s interesting to see McKinnon and Herring featured in the video. McKinnon is a free agent signing that has flown under the radar, while Herring is a UDFA likely to be an injury stash for the 2021 season. Hering is also the only UDFA featured in the video.

Noticeably absent from this video is DT Jarran Reed, who was one of the Chiefs’ top acquisitions in the 2021 free agency period. Another free agent signing, Austin Blythe also didn’t make the cut for this video. I wouldn’t read too much into the absences, though. It’s possible they simply didn’t have any looks or angles to fit this reel. Ultimately, it’s cool to see the majority of newcomers in their uniforms for the first time, but it’ll be much better to see them wear those uniforms come game day.
