Watch: Chiefs capture No. 1 seed in AFC as Falcons’ Younghoe Koo misses late FG

The Kansas City Chiefs have earned the AFC bye in the playoffs. And all it took was a missed field goal attempt by a Pro Bowl kicker to assure it.

Younghoe Koo and the Atlanta Falcons looked in position to force overtime but the kicker sliced a 39-yard field-goal attempt in the final seconds and the Chiefs escaped with a 17-14 victory on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Matt Ryan had led a drive that gave the Falcons a lead only to see Patrick Mahomes counter with a TD pass to Demarcus Robinson.

Robinson led the Falcons to field-goal position but Koo missed and the Chiefs had the bye and home-field throughout their run in the AFC playoffs.
