Washington not involved in trade talks for Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa

The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 2, but that doesn’t mean teams aren’t actively looking for help two weeks before the deadline.

Earlier on Wednesday, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins “could have Deshaun Watson deal done this week.”

How does this impact Washington, you might ask?

According to Coty Davis, who covers the Texans for Locked on Texans and Texans Wire, said the Texans were closing in on a deal to send Watson to the Dolphins, but it could involve a third team so Miami could find a home for its current quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

Per Davis, that third team could be the Washington Football Team.

Tagovailoa, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, has yet to establish himself in the way Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert have from the same draft class.

It didn’t take long for Washington to refute the report. JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reported Washington was not involved in trade talks for Tagovailoa.

Others, such as Ben Standig of The Athletic, reported the same.

While a lot can happen between now and the trade deadline, it doesn’t appear Washington will make a move for Tagovailoa.
