Check out the latest news and notes after the Nationals 7-6 victory over the Reds.
SS Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBI to lead the Nationals to a 7-6 win over the Reds on Monday. It was Turner's 11th homer in 79 games this season. He's batting .341 with six walks, four steals and 10 runs scored in 10 games this month.
SP Erick Fedde held the Reds to two runs in six innings to pick up a victory on Monday. Fedde gave up nine runs to the Braves on July 30, but he's allowed a total of four runs in his other four starts over the last month.
RP Sean Doolittle recorded his 27th save despite giving up two runs in the ninth Monday against the Reds. Doolittle allowed a leadoff homer, a single and an RBI double before escaping the inning. He's given up six runs in his last three appearances to take his ERA to 3.73.
The Nationals signed RHP Greg Holland to a minor league contract. Holland was released by the Diamondbacks over the weekend after posting a 4.54 ERA and 41/24 K/BB ratio across 35 2/3 innings. However, he did pitch well for them early on and also thrived down the stretch for the Nats last season, so perhaps he'll be able to recapture something.
