Washington Football Team vs. New York Giants Week 18 inactives originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

As the regular-season finale awaits, both the Washington Football Team and the New York Giants were a lot healthier when the two clubs met in Week 2.

Washington's biggest absence comes on the defensive side of the football, as standout pass rusher Montez Sweat will miss his second consecutive game due to personal reasons. Sweat's brother, Anthony, was fatally shot in Henrico, Va., on Dec. 29.

Jack Del Rio's defense will additionally be down Washington cornerback William Jackson III, who will miss Sunday's game after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week.

On the offensive side of the football, wide receiver Curtis Samuel will once again be sidelined. Samuel, a lucrative signing this offseason for Washington, will finish his first campaign with the club playing in just five games and recording 38 total scrimmage yards.

Washington will also be down offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles and tight end Ricky Seals-Jones. Neither player practiced all week while dealing with a knee injury and a concussion, respectively. Tight end Sammis Reyes, who was expected to have the biggest workload of his NFL career, is inactive with a hamstring injury.

The good news for Washington is that right tackle Sam Cosmi, running back Antonio Gibson and pass rusher James Smith-Williams are all active. Each one of them was limited at practice at least once this week, but none of them carried an injury designation entering Sunday.

For the Giants, New York will be without multiple key contributors, especially on offense.

Let's start at the most important position, as the Giants are onto their third-string quarterback. Jake Fromm will get the call for Big Blue on Sunday after starter Daniel Jones and backup Mike Glennon both are unable to play due to injury.

The Giants will also be without one of their top playmakers, as rookie wideout Kadarius Toney will miss Sunday's game with a shoulder injury. He's not the only wideout the Giants are down, as John Ross was also ruled out with a knee injury. Sterling Shepard will also not ply after suffering a torn Achilles three weeks ago.
