Washington spreads Christmas cheer with toy giveaway at FedEx Field originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The Christmas season is fully upon us. To celebrate this season of giving, the Washington Football Team hosted a toy drive at FedEx Field on Thursday for area youth “as the grand finale to the team’s month-long Season of Giving initiative,” per a team press release.
After all was said and done, the team donated over 10,000 toys to thousands of D.C.-area children including board games, play-doh, science kits, and team gear.

Not only did the kids receive toys, they also got a visit from a very special guest: Santa Claus himself (played by former Washington defensive back Fred Smoot)!
When the Mouth from the South becomes the Giver from the North... Pole... you get "Santa Smoot!"

“For the 2021 Season, The Washington Football Team and Washington Football Charitable Foundation teamed up with neighborhood partners for events to include the annual Toys for Tots toy drive, the Washington Football Charitable Foundation’s 50/50 raffle, and holiday events at FedExField and across the DMV,” the team release read.
Washington surely made those kids’ Christmases a little brighter, but they can make the weekend special for adults too by beating Dallas on Sunday Night Football.
