Washington Football Talk debates Sunday's betting lines vs. Cardinals originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The Washington Football Team (1-0) takes on the Arizona Cardinals (1-0) Sunday evening at 4:25 p.m. ET and the lines are all over the place for this one. Two teams that shocked a lot of people Week 1 are now on a crash course to remain undefeated. Who would've thought?
With so many numbers in so many places, two-thirds of the Washington Football Talk Podcast crew banned together to give their takes on some point spreads and prop bets for Sunday's matchup.
"I think it's a little fishy to me," Mitch Tischler said when mulling the Cardinals as a 6.5-point favorite at home. "The Cardinals should be the darlings of the desert with all that offensive fire power, and they're only laying 6.5 to the lowly Washington Football Team?"
"I think they'll cover the 6.5 and I'm getting a little tickle that they might win and be the most surprising team in football coming back home."
Mitch and a little tickle? That's good news for everyone.
"I love Mitch Tischler tickles," Pete Hailey responded.
Dwayne Haskins O/U 250 passing yards
"He's favored to go over 250 [passing yards] but I liked the under there," Hailey said. "If Washington is going to keep it close like you and I both expect, they're going to need to do so with the running game and by taking advantage of short fields. I'm also still waiting for a second pass catcher to emerge for Dwayne."
The two didn't quite see eye-to-eye on this prop bet. The typically optimistic Hailey took a much more reserved approach to his presumed Haskins' performance while Tischler is all in on an aerial assault.
"Look at Dwayne Haskins. After the Fabian Moreau interception with 2:37 left in the first half, Dwayne was 13-of-18 for 144 and a TD," Tischler said. "I think they''re going to build off of that performance."
"I think they're going to be able to move the ball down the field and hit one of those big shots, especially to Terry McLaurin," Tischler added. "I like the over 250 and the Washington Football Team to cover."
Whichever way these lines play out one thing's for certain: We all will be glued to the television.
