Hancock’s Conrad, Boonsboro’s Queen voted Athletes of the Week

Hancock’s Mason Conrad and Boonsboro’s Kaitlyn Queen were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County Athletes of the Week for Jan. 23-28.

The voting was conducted online Monday morning through noon Thursday.

Conrad, a junior basketball player, earned the boys honor with 56.63% of the vote (500 votes). He had 21 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Hyndman and eight offensive boards and three blocks in a win over Union.

Queen, a senior indoor track and field athlete, was the girls winner with 38.72% of the vote (297 votes). She won the Gambrill Division title in the shot put at the CMC championships, placing second overall with an indoor personal-record throw of 32 feet, 8 1/2 inches — the top mark in the county this season.

The other girls nominees were Williamsport’s Rebecca Sanon (indoor track) and North Hagerstown’s Ciyanda Green (basketball).

The other boys nominees were Williamsport’s Ceonta Wilmore (basketball) and Smithsburg’s Clark Smith (wrestling).
