Warriors’ Steph Curry to come off bench in Game 1 vs. Nuggets, Jordan Poole to start

While Steph Curry is set to return to the court for game one, he won’t be on the floor for the opening tip.

After missing the final 12 games of the regular season with an injury in his left foot, Curry has been cleared to play in game one of the Golden State Warriors’ first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. However, he will come off the bench on Saturday night.

Curry will likely still play a significant role, but it will be on an undetermined minutes restriction.

With the two-time Most Valuable Player coming off the bench, Jordan Poole will get the nod in the starting backcourt next to Klay Thompson. Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney will round out the rest of the starting group against the Nuggets.

During Curry’s 12-game absence, Poole started at point guard for the Warriors. Over that stretch, the third-year guard out of Michigan averaged 25.8 points on 42.1% shooting from the floor with 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 35.4 minutes per game.

Game one of the first-round series is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. PT in San Francisco on Saturday.
