The Warriors are in the Finals.
That's a line we've all heard with regularity over the past five years about the Golden State Warriors. But this time, it's their NBA 2K League team, Warriors Gaming Squad, that has reached the Finals for the first time in franchise history.
After Warriors Gaming Squad took down Bucks Gaming in the quarterfinals on Friday, they followed it up by sweeping Jazz Gaming on Saturday in the semifinals.
Warriors Gaming Squad cruised to a Game 1 blowout, winning 87-61. Jazz Gaming didn't go down easy in Game 2, but MVP candidate CB13 delivered in the clutch to lead WGS to a 71-66 win in Game 2 and a spot in the Finals.
"We still got the best team in the league. We still know we're the best team in the league," forward Gradient said after the Game 2 win.
Warriors Gaming Squad was on a collision course with Raptors Uprising GC, which finished the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. Wizards District Gaming's semifinals upset changed those plans.
So, the Finals are set. It will be Warriors Gaming Squad against Wizards District Gaming for the NBA 2K League championship on Friday, Aug. 28.
