Warriors catch break as Suns star Booker ruled out Thursday originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Warriors won't have to worry about defending one of the NBA's most dangerous scorers in Thursday's clash with the Phoenix Suns, as star Devin Booker has been ruled out as he deals with a hamstring strain.

The All-Star guard also sat out Phoenix's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.

Thursday will be the first matchup between the two teams after the scheduled Jan. 15 meeting was postponed due to contact tracing for COVID-19 leaving the Suns without the minimum eight available players.

Booker can fill it up with the best of the NBA's scorers, as he's been among the league's top-10 in points per game for each of the past two seasons, and is the most recent NBA player to put up a 70-point game, back in 2017.

Phoenix still will have former No. 1 overall pick DeAndre Ayton matching up with rookie James Wiseman, who is coming off a career night in Wednesday's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Chris Paul will be running point for the Suns, and he joined NBC Sports Bay Area analyst Dorell Wright on the latest episode of "Dubs Talk" to discuss all his battles with Steph Curry and the Warriors over the years.

Jevon Carter or Cameron Johnson likely will start in Booker's place, and Dario Saric, Cameron Payne and former Warriors draft pick Damian Jones also will be out for Thursday's game.
