Waiver Wired: Claim Krejci

Corey Abbott recommends Krejci, Daniel Sedin, Stastny, Kevin Hayes and much more in the latest Waiver Wired

Nolan Patrick went from being owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues a week ago to 19%. Derick Brassard is still available in 60% of Yahoo leagues. He has one goal and one assist in three games with Pittsburgh, while Kyle Connor is still owned in just 23% of Yahoo leagues.

Evgenii Dadonov has jumped to a 42% ownership after he was owned in 29% of Yahoo leagues a week ago.  Hopefully, you were able to jump on that bandwagon.  If you haven't then there still may be time to do so.

Now, let’s go into this week’s recommendations:

Daniel Sedin (VAN) - LW - Owned in 36% of Yahoo leagues

Sedin has collected 14 points in the last 10 games. He has found the back of the net six times during a five-game point streak and he has added three assists over that span. Sedin has also accounted for five power-play points during that time, including three goals. The 37-year-old winger sits second on the Canucks with 21 goals and 46 points through 64 contests. He also ranks second on the team with 20 power-play points. Vancouver is one of eight teams that will play four times this week and they have a favorable schedule for Sedin to continue his recent resurgence.

Sam Reinhart (BUF) - C, LW, RW - Owned in 35% of Yahoo leagues

Reinhart’s combination with Ryan O’Reilly has become the top line for the Sabres since Jack Eichel went down with a high-ankle sprain. He was playing well before Eichel was injured and he has stepped up with four goals and three helpers in the past nine games, including five points in the last six. Reinhart has generated 14 points in his past 15 matches after a terrible start to the year.

Paul Stastny (WPG) - C - Owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues

Stastny has had his share of ups and downs this season, but he finds himself in a great spot with Winnipeg after he was acquired from St. Louis at the trade deadline. Stastny notched a goal and an assist in his Jets debut, but then he had a quiet game on the Friday versus Detroit. The 32-year-old pivot has been logging big minutes on the power play, while skating between Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers at even strength. Stastny should continue to rack up assists alongside Winnipeg’s top-two goal scorers this campaign.

Sami Vatanen (NJD) - D - Owned in 28% of Yahoo leagues

Vatanen appeared on Waiver Wired last week when he was owned in 21% of Yahoo leagues. He’s worth mentioning again because finding new defensemen to add can often be a difficult task and he should be on more rosters. Vatanen has produced 10 assists and 23 shots in his last 11 outings. He’s still looking for his first goal since Dec. 27, which does lose him some points, but the only blueliner who has been as productive as him over the last 14 days is Boston rookie Charlie McAvoy (owned in 67% of Yahoo leagues).

David Krejci (BOS) - C - Owned in 26% of Yahoo leagues

Krejci has four goals, including a hat trick, and two assists in the last six games. He has received a fantasy boost alongside Rick Nash and Patrice Bergeron’s fractured foot has given him a larger role. Speaking of larger roles, Riley Nash is also an option on the Bruins, as he has moved up to the top line between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak in Bergeron’s place. He has two goals and two assists in the past three contests. Boston has four games on tap for the coming week and the team’s top-two centers should receive some attention from fantasy GMs.

Mikael Backlund (CGY) - C - Owned in 24% of Yahoo leagues

Backlund and the second line of the Flames has been doing most of the damage offensively for the last 14 days. Matthew Tkachuk has been Calgary’s hottest player during that stretch, with three goals and seven points, and Backlund is right behind him with two markers and four helpers. Calgary will play four games this week, including three on the road, but the matchups could play into the hands of Backlund and the Flames’ shooters.

Kevin Hayes (NYR) - C, RW - Owned in 14% of Yahoo leagues

Hayes has been scorching hot and the Rangers’ trade deadline makeover hasn’t slowed him down. He has seven goals and five assists for 12 points in the past 12 games. New York faces some difficult opponents this coming week, but Hayes and linemate Ryan Spooner have been flying under the radar despite great production. Spooner has been great since his acquisition from Boston. He has generated seven points (one goal, six assists) in four games. I would trust Hayes a bit more than Spooner, but they are both good options for poolies in deeper leagues.

Bobby Ryan (OTT) - LW, RW - Owned in 14% of Yahoo leagues

Ryan has not had the season most were hoping for after a successful 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he could finish the 2017-18 campaign on a high note. He has earned six points, including five assists, in five games since his return from his latest hand injury. If Ryan stays healthy and continues to play with Mark Stone, who has been Ottawa’s most consistent scoring threat this year, then a much stronger finish should be in the cards.

Artem Anisimov (CHI) - C - Owned in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Anisimov has heated up with five goals in the last seven games. He has been seeing time alongside Patrick Kane during that time, but spent most of Saturday’s game between Anthony Duclair and Tomas Jurco. Anisimov has continued to play on Chicago’s top power-play unit, but if Kane stays with Jonathan Toews then it does limit Anisimov’s upside as a potential pickup.  He's worth monitoring at the very least.

Nick Bjugstad (FLA) - C, RW - Owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Bjugstad has been churning out points for the Panthers for a while now. He hasn’t gone more than two games without a point since Jan. 19. Bjugstad has amassed 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in his last 14 games. He has taken on a playmaker role alongside Aleksander Barkov and Evgenii Dadonov on Florida's top line.
