Wabash College sophomore guard Jack Davidson now holds the NCAA basketball record for the most consecutive free throws made across all divisions with 95, breaking a 20-year record before missing for the first time in 14 games.

Davidson also led all scorers in Saturday night’s 89-76 win over Oberlin with 27 points.

According to Wabash Athletics, the previous holder of the record was Paul Cluxton from Division II school Northern Kentucky University. Cluxton swished 94 straight free throws in the 1996-1997 season. Butler University’s Darnell Archey holds the Division I record with 85.

Perhaps the satisfaction of breaking a storied record was just enough for the rising star, because on his 96th attempt Davidson missed, ending his streak at 95.

“Not sure what it was,” Davidson said following the game. “Just missed it.

Nonetheless, the Fishers, Indiana, native posted a message on Twitter shortly after his accomplishment thanking fans for their support.

At least he made the one that counted.
