Virginia Tech's game against Old Dominion saw a numberof unofficial visitors, including Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock 2019 defensive back Youssof Hanifi. The 6-1, 165-pound Hanifi is a little-known name on the recruiting trail, but has started getting attention from Power-5 schools.

"Other than VT, the schools that have hit me up are North Carolina, UVa, Cincinnati, Penn State, Purdue, Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Maryland," he explained. "Over the rest of the Fall, I plan to visit Cincinnati, Syracuse and Virginia Tech again."

The Hokies set a high bar for Hanifi, though. In addition to the 38-0 victory over Old Dominion inside Lane Stadium, he got to experience some of the best parts about the Hokie football experience. That included plenty of time seeing what the facilities are all about.

"They gave us a tour of all the facilities and all the new stuff they had," he said. "The best thing though was probably the little museum they had. It showed VT football history."

Hanifi also got a chance to sit down and talk to the Hokies' coaches. While it's relatively early in his recruiting process, it was nice to start building a bond with some of them. He also got to learn about how to progress through that recruiting process.

"We did get a chance to talk to them," Hanifi said. "They had like a barbecue in the indoor practice field. The coaches kinda came around and talked to us. They just talked about our recruiting process, how school is going, and each of us as a person."

With another trip planned later this Fall, that was just the beginning for Hanifi.
