Results: The Rock's Roksana Sajdak wins Athlete of the Week for Jan. 10 through Jan. 15

Through the duration of the winter sports season, the Gainesville Sun will run an "Athlete of the Week" poll, highlighting the top high school sports performances from the week prior.

The poll will be released on Monday morning, and voting will run through Thursday morning at 10 a.m. with the the winner being announced on Friday.

Readers may vote once per hour and are encouraged to share on their social media pages.

Athlete of the Week for Jan. 10 through Jan. 15:

Roksana Sajdak, The Rock girls' basketball

Sajdak, a junior at The Rock, dropped a season-best 30 points in the Lions' 66-55 victory over Buchholz on Thursday night.

While the Lions built a comfortable lead over the Bobcats in the second quarter, Buchholz rallied back to tighten the game. Fortunately for the Lions, Sajdak was beginning to find her rhythm and scored 18 second-half points to help lift The Rock to the win.

In addition to Sajdak's 30 points, she also added 13 rebounds, seven steals and a pair of assists.

Other nominations and final results:

Roberto Hurtado, P.K. Yonge boys' soccer

Hurtado, a senior on the Blue Wave's soccer team, helped P.K. Yonge improve to 16-1-1 with three wins last week.

In P.K. Yonge's 11-1 win over Palatka on Monday, Hurtado was responsible six Blue Wave goals. Later in the week on Wednesday, Hurtado added four goals to his week total in the Blue Wave's 6-1 win over Duval Charter.

Bringing his week total to 11, Hurtado sent one more goal to the back of the net in P.K. Yonge's 4-1 win over Crescent City on Friday night. The senior striker now has 23 goals on the season.

Patton Pinkins, P.K. Yonge boys' basketball

Pinkins, a freshman from the Blue Wave boys' basketball team, helped P.K. Yonge go 2-0 last week with wins against Ocala Trinity Catholic and Bradford.

In each of last week's wins, Pinkins was the Blue Waves' leading scorer with, ironically, 23 points scored in each game.

In consistent fashion, Pinkins went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in both games, came away with 11 total rebounds and went 12-for-13 from the free throw line.

Kiersten Shaw, Keystone Heights girls' soccer

Keystone Heights freshman Kiersten Shaw helped the Indians go 2-0 last week and improve to 11-5-2 on the season with seven total goals in Keystone's 8-0 win over Williston and 2-0 win over Crescent City.

Against Williston, Shaw converted five of her seven shots on goal into points for the Indians, while also being responsible for both goals scored against Crescent City.

On the season, Shaw has scored 46 total goals, which leads the entire State of Florida, according to MaxPreps.com.
