Vols in the NBA: Oct. 11 recap

The NBA preseason continued Monday night, entering its second full week.

Three former University of Tennessee basketball players were in action, while another missed a game due to an injury. One former Volunteer did not play due to a coach’s decision.

In Southern California, the Los Angeles Clippers came up on the short end of a 128-100 decision against Minnesota.

Former Vol and 2021 first-round draft pick Keon Johnson played 12 minutes against the Timberwolves.

He scored seven points, pulled down three rebounds, dished out one assist and recorded one block for Los Angeles in 12 minutes.

In Memphis, Yves Pons played six minutes and grabbed one rebound in the Grizzlies’ 127-92 victory over the Detroit at FedEx Forum. He was 0-for-1 from the floor with his field goal attempt coming from beyond the 3-point arc.

Meanwhile in Philadelphia, the 76ers toppled Brooklyn 115-104 at Wells Fargo Center.

Jaden Springer played 17 minutes for Philadelphia. He had two points and two rebounds in 17 minutes. He was 1-for-6 from the floor and 0-for-2 from the free throw line.

Tobias Harris missed the game for the 76ers due to knee soreness.

Jordan Bowden dressed for the Nets, but did not play due to a coach’s decision. He plays for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G-League.
