Vikings' Thielen unsure of leg injury severity
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen sat out the rest of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions after his 25-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter, but the severity of a suspected hamstring injury remained unknown.
The 29-year-old Thielen, who never has missed a game in six seasons, has a tight turnaround to make his next scheduled start on Thursday, when the Vikings will play host to the Washington Redskins.
"We'll find out more (Sunday night or Monday) and go from there," Thielen said after Sunday's game.
Thielen hauled in a TD pass from Kirk Cousins to help the Viking tie the score with 5:14 left in the first quarter in an eventual 42-30 win, but pulled up just before bounding into the padded wall beyond the end zone.
He remained in uniform into the third quarter but eventually was ruled out. He said he felt the injury but wasn't sure how serious it was.
"I just felt it, then I ran into the wall," Thielen said. "That's about it."
In an interview with ESPN, Thielen said, "We'll evaluate it, see where it's at after getting an MRI and then hopefully I'll get ready to go. I'm optimistic that I'll be playing and that's all we can do right now."
