Vikings QB Kellen Mond named Minnesota’s most intriguing project

Minnesota saw Kellen Mond fall to it in the third round and despite having a starting quarterback, the Vikings seized the opportunity of landing a possible long-term successor.

For that, Mond was tabbed as the Vikings’ most intriguing project, according to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report. Gagnon wrote:

“The tantalizing Texas A&M product slid into Round 3, where he landed with the Minnesota Vikings, who owe veteran Kirk Cousins $76 million over the next two years. Barring an injury to Cousins, that almost certainly means Mond will hold a tablet as a rookie—and likely as a sophomore as well.

And that’s fine, because despite possessing all the tools to become a franchise quarterback, Mond needs work and time.”

Mond will of course have to develop. And it’s not a given that a third-round pick will ever become a starting-caliber player. But he has some time to learn under Kirk Cousins for now.
