Vikings interview Cowboys coordinators Dan Quinn, Kellen Moore for head coach

Jan. 19—The Vikings on Wednesday interviewed a pair of Dallas Cowboys coordinators for their opening to replace Mike Zimmer.

In separate virtual interviews, the Vikings spoke to defensive coordinator Dan Quinn early in the day and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore later in the day. They now have interviewed three candidates in the search to replace Zimmer, who was fired Jan. 10. They spoke Sunday to Green Bay offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

The Vikings also fired general manager Rick Spielman on Jan. 10 and have conducted six virtual interviews so far in the search for his replacement.

Quinn, 51, was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-2020, finishing with a 43-42 record before joining the Cowboys in 2021. He took the Falcons to Super Bowl LI after the 2016 season, losing 34-28 in overtime to New England.

Quinn is the first former head coach the Vikings have interviewed and one of two they so far have requested for an interview. They put in a request Tuesday for Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009-11 and Quinn's replacement as interim coach of the Falcons for the final 11 games of 2020.

Moore, 33, is a former NFL quarterback who took his first coaching job in 2018 as the Cowboys' quarterbacks coach. He has been their offensive coordinator since 2019.
