Clyde Edwards-Helaire NFL Draft Prospect Profile

Yahoo Sports’ lead draft analyst Eric Edholm shares his evaluation of the running back out of LSU.

ERIC EDHOLM: LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was a breakout star for the champion Tigers last year-- so much so that Joe Burrow called him the best player he's ever played alongside. On the upside, Edwards-Helaire has great three-down ability. He could be an inside-outside threat as a receiver and as a runner. He's also so tough to tackle-- it's like trying to take down a greased up bowling ball. On the downside, he lacks ideal size-- 5'7, 207 pounds, might not be built for that kind of full duty in the NFL. Only one year of production and also lacks home run speed. My NFL comp for him, another undersized, hyphenated back-- Maurice Jones-Drew. I think that's the type of player Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be in the NFL.
