ERIC EDHOLM: Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley is a long athletic cover man who's really picked up a position quickly. He played quarterback in high school and receiver as a freshman. But upside-wise, he might be the number 1 cornerback in this class.
However, there are major red flags with Farley. He recently had back surgery, and it may have been his second procedure to relieve pain in his bulging disks. Plus, he opted out in 2020, so we simply haven't seen him play for more than a year. If healthy, he's an ascending prospect who reminds me a little bit of Byron Jones of the Miami Dolphins, but Farley's medical evaluation suddenly is a very big deal.
