BRANDON BEANE: I don't want to suck bad enough to have to get Ja'Marr Chase.

JARED QUAY: When teams are winning, everybody is so happy and light. And when teams are losing, people get cranky and can let some negative vibes spill out, just ask Bills general manager Brandon Beane. In his exit interview with the media, following Buffalo's playoff loss to the Bengals, Beane was asked if his squad should take a page from the Bengals book on how to build a stellar receiving corps.

BRANDON BEANE: I don't want to suck bad enough to have to get Ja'Marr Chase. He's a heck of a talent, I'd love to have him, but you've got to go through some lean years to do that.

JARED QUAY: Brother Beane is spitting straight truth in these streets. You only get the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft when your team sucks.

- OK, OK, capiche.

JARED QUAY: Here's the silver lining for you-- at least the Bills defeat wasn't as widely viewed as Dallas's, because the Cowboys lost to the 49ers was watched by 45.7 million people.

- Everything's bigger in Texas.

JARED QUAY: It's the second most watched NFL divisional playoff game on record, according to Fox Sports. Losing hurts, but it hurts extra when a record number of people see it.

- Ouch!

JARED QUAY: Over in the NBA, we might see some bruised egos with the league's new all-star game format

JARED QUAY: This year, the all-star teams are going to be picked by the captains out on the court just before a tip off. Captains have picked their own squad since 2018, but that was a televised event weeks before the game. This right here is straight up playground style.

- Kids can be so cruel.

JARED QUAY: Sure all these guys are multi-millionaires whooping in the best basketball league on planet Earth, but we're all still kids at heart. Being picked last in front of everyone's face, that's got to take you back to fifth grade, man. I'm still in therapy.

I remember, I got picked last and I was like, this got to be more than sports, man. What I do to you, man? Was a math class? I'm sorry to let you cheat off me. I wasn't sure my answer was right.
