Betting: Will USA defeat Iran to advance in World Cup?

NICK BROMBERG: The United States enters its must-win game against Iran as a plus 100 favorite to get the victory. Even money is good value if you believe the US will win. They have to. A tie does them no good. And the US should win. It has the better team and showed composure against England in the 0-0 tie. Take the US to win straight up.
Oddsmakers really like under 2.5 goals to hit as the odds for two goals or less are at -175. Iran is likely to sit back knowing full well that a draw could put them through to the round of 16. While the under could ultimately be the right play, over 1.5 goals in the first half looks enticing. If the United States looks like it did in the first half against Wales, it could easily get more than one goal in the first 45 minutes. And if you're a fan an early goal or two would also go a long way to preventing flashbacks to the 2010 World Cup when the US left really late against Algeria.
