Betting: Will Undefeated Cardinals cover -6 vs. Packers?

Minty Bets, Ariel Epstein and Pamela Maldonado break down their betting picks for the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Packers and Cardinals.

Video Transcript

MINTY BETS: Time to kick off week eight with a little Thursday Night Football as the Arizona Cardinals host the Green Bay Packers. The Cardinals opened as 3 and 1/2 point favorites, but the line has since moved to Cardinals minus 6 after the Davante Adams news.

Now, we're filming this video on Tuesday for this Thursday night game. I'm joined by my usual Pam Maldonado and, for the first time ever, Ariel Epstein. Ariel, let's kick it off to you first. Who's your pick for this game?

ARIEL EPSTEIN: My pick for this game is the number-one wide receiver on the other side of the Davante Adams saga, and that's the wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, DeAndre Hopkins. Although Hopkins has had 50 yards receiving across the last two weeks, this is the time he's about to explode.

I'm going with the over, 62 and 1/2 receiving yards for DeAndre Hopkins. It's a four-star play for me. Hopkins is going up against a banged-up secondary in Green Bay who's without two of their top corners, Jaire Alexander being one of them who would likely have been covering DeAndre Hopkins in this match-up.

I am looking towards this secondary having some problems with the number-one wide receiver, as they have the last couple of weeks. I look back to Ja'Marr Chase and then also looking to their last match-up with Washington, Terry McLaurin. Both of them had over a hundred receiving yards. I could see the same thing happening for DeAndre Hopkins this week.

MINTY BETS: Ooh, OK. Pam, what do you have for us?

PAMELA MALDONADO: I'm sticking with the Green Bay Packers plus 6 at the Cardinals. No Davante Adams, who cares for me? It doesn't really matter. Though, yes, he does lead with receiving yards, he only accounts for 3 of the 15 total receiving touchdowns.

The Cardinals, they've been hella impressive, but who exactly have the Cardinals played? They played the Texans, the Browns without running back Nick Chubb, an unimpressive showing against 49ers rookie quarterback. They caught the Rams after a huge upset win over the Bucs, won by just 1 point to the Vikings, and they had the Titans in week one who was new without their offensive coordinator.

The Cardinals have been very fortunate to have a great schedule. And the Packers, they still do have weapons. Run Aaron Jones. Have short passes to Jones or tight end big Bob Tonyan. There are plenty of options. Rodgers, he just needs to use them because Adams-- he just hasn't had to use them because Adams is so effective.

Over 51 might be the play, but I'm rolling with Packers plus 6, waiting because this line could creep up to 7 from all of the overreactions.

MINTY BETS: Wow. You hit the nail on the head here. I actually really like the Packers plus 6, but I think my best bet is over 51.

Now, Arizona has a high-scoring offense but a faulty rushing defense. In comes Aaron Jones. And, frankly, the Cardinals haven't faced a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, so I think this could very well be a shootout. My best bet is going to be the over.
