Betting: Will Panthers cover -7.5 vs. Texans?

Minty Bets, Jared Quay and Pamela Maldonado give their picks for the Panthers vs. Texans game on Thursday Night Football.

Video Transcript

MINTY BETS: It's time for some of the Thursday Night Football as the Houston Texans host the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are 7 and 1/2 point favorites and the total is 44. Now, Pam is 2 and 0 in Thursday Night Football so far. So she is on fire. We gave her this nice little graphic here to show that she's on fire.

JARED QUAY: Hey, wait. Wait a minute. Hold on. I like that. Where my graphic? I got some heat too, right?

MINTY BETS: Jared, you know what? You're 0 and 2 in Thursday night so we gave you this nice little graphic here. It's a little chilly where you are, isn't it?

[LAUGHS]

JARED QUAY: I was signed with the public, man. The public is cold, man. I'm hot. Hey, hey, cold. Freaking out of here.

MINTY BETS: Yeah. Yeah. All right. Jared, now why don't you start us off with your Thursday night pick.

JARED QUAY: I'm going against the grain because you know what? Going with the grain hasn't worked for me. I like the Texas plus 7 and 1/2. All right. I get it. Tyrod Taylor's out. But who was acting like before the season Tyrod Taylor is going to be an all world quarterback where if he's missing. The team shouldn't win.

I think this Texan team has a lot of players who are experienced in this league, and just feel like they're overlooked. Meanwhile, I don't think the Panthers are anything special. I get it. They did beat the Saints, but we know how Jamison. He's hot or cold.

They beat the Jets. Obviously, Zach Wilson has some interception issues. I actually think the Texas could pull it out all right, but I'm going to take them with plus 7 and 1/2 so I can get my fire graphic pop up.

MINTY BETS: There you go. You will earn it in time. Now, I actually don't hate that. I actually really love that bet and I'm siding with you. However, I think this total is set nice and low at 44. And as we've seen, the Texans put up 37 points, and then 21 points, and their defense is bad.

CMC and DJ Moore can do some damage on this Panthers offense. And Sam Darnold is performing a lot better than I expected. So I think this game could very well go over 44. Now, Pam, what is your pick?

PAMELA MALDONADO: I don't mind either of your picks. And Jared, the Texans could still very well covered. But I think that very much Davis Mills, who's going to be starting quarterback since we don't have Tyrone Taylor, to throw an interception is my best bet for this game.

A little story first. My father, who is a die-hard Cowboys fan back in the day, I did a little friendly alcoholic wager to take a shot for every interception that Tony Romo threw against the Carolina Panthers. This was the 2015 Panthers' defense. I think this defense now is comparable to the defense then.

In that game, Tony Romo had three interceptions, who my dad had to take three shots. And Romo had 52% completion. Now you have Davis Mills, a rookie quarterback who has no experience in the NFL other than preseason. And did you watch him at Stanford? He wasn't very good.

Romo had 106 passing yards in that game. And the Panthers against Zach Wilson, 6 sacks on 51 touches, one interception. The Panthers against Jameis Winston, 4 sacks on 31 touches, 2 interceptions. Give me Davis Mills to have at least one interception in this game.

JARED QUAY: I'll tell you what, every time he has an interception, I'm going to take a shot too because I'm going to need it. I got this. I got the Texas.
