FRANK SCHWAB: Welcome to Yahoo Sportsbook Daily. It is September 27th and I'm your betting guide, Frank Schwab. It's time to recap some bad beats and look ahead for big NFC showdown on Monday Night Football.

Weren't too many bad beats in the NFL, but we did get one doozy on a missed extra point. But if you had over 54 and 1/2 or 55 on Chargers-Chiefs, you really didn't feel like you're going to hit that over. It was a really slow scoring first quarter, but then at the end you got teased by it.

We all thought the Chargers are just going to line up and kick a field goal to win it, but they wanted a touch down. Didn't want to give Patrick Mahomes any time to come back and tie the game. Send it to overtime. So they kept plugging away for the touchdown and they got it with about 30 seconds left.

Mike Williams gets the touchdown. You're at 54 points at that point. Feeling pretty good, and then the Chargers pushed the extra point wide right. It was a windy day at Arrowhead Stadium. So if you had 54 and 1/2, you lost on that. 55, you think you would have pushed. You would've got the win. Nope. The missed extra point ruins all your overbet. Tough beat right there.

One other minor one, I'd say, maybe just because I was on the Raiders minus 4, but to have Jacoby Brissett [INAUDIBLE] at your defense in scoring with two seconds left, sending that game into overtime. That did feel like a bad beat with the Raiders minus 4. They end up winning by 3 in overtime. They kept trying to score a touchdown. Couldn't get in. Win by 3. That's no good to Raiders bettors who had them at minus 4. That was nothing compared to the college football Saturday, [INAUDIBLE] wow, did we have some incredibly weird beats.

Let's start off with Michigan State. They're minus 5 against Nebraska. That game goes to overtime. It's tough to win in that situation, but right away Michigan State gets an interception. Guy has a wall of blockers in front of him. He's going to walk this thing off. We're going to have Michigan State covering this five point spread and he somehow gets tripped up when he had this wide open lane to the end zone.

That's OK. Spartans still have a chance to score and win and right away in the overtime, they get to run up the middle, wide open field in front of him and he gets tripped up from behind. Tackled at the one. They settle for the field goal. Michigan State minus 5 bettors had to feel sick after that. A couple of chances to cover in overtime. Couldn't get it done.

Bad beats just weren't on Saturday, though. We had a couple on Friday that were really, really tough. Appalachian State minus 7 and 1/2 against Marshall. Less than 2 minutes left and Marshall decides, hey we're just going to let App State score, but Appalachian State didn't take the bait.

The running back slides down at the 5 yard line. Smart play football wise, just not any good for bettors. Now do not get the cover. That minus 7 and 1/2 when Appalachian State kills the clock. That is a rough, rough beat if you had Appalachian State minus 7 and 1/2 and this running back did not want to score the touchdown at the end.

There was an absolute all-timer in the Ivy League of all places. Probably not a lot of people had the over on Harvard versus Brown, but my goodness was this one bad. The over/under was 65 and 1/2. Harvard's up 49 to 10 and Brown scores a touchdown as time expires. Here's the problem. They're not supposed to kick an extra point after that. By Rule [? 832A, ?] there's no extra point. The game is over at that point.

Brown can't win the game, but the officials let Brown kick the extra point for some reason. The final score is 49-17. That's 66 points for a half point on the over. Under bettors had to feel like they got robbed by the referees. Usually we hear that. This time it's actually true. Brown ends up kicking after point they should never have been kicking in that determines the over/under. That is brutal if you had the under. Condolences on that one. You're not going to see too many times or a misinterpretation of the rule book causes a bad beat

Let's move on to some hopefully happier betting opportunities. We have a great game on Monday Night Football. At least I'm excited for it. 8:15 Eastern kickoff on ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles plus 3 at the Dallas Cowboys, and I like the underdog a lot here, actually. I think the Eagles can go in and win this one straight up.

I mean the Cowboys still have a lot of injuries they're dealing with. Those didn't go away just because they beat the Chargers. But the Eagles, what we've seen from them so far this season is some inconsistency on offense, but the defense has been really, really good in both games. They did a great job against a 49ers last week, stayed in that game for a long time. The offense just couldn't get it together. But the 49ers have a good defense. Dallas does not.

I think Jalen Hurts is going to have a quality game here. He's not going to be intimidated anymore. He's already been to Dallas. He started there. I think Hurts is going to have a good game. Eagles are still relatively healthy, which they haven't been in the last couple of years. This defense does impress me. I think Eagles can at least hold down the Cowboys on offense a little bit.

What we're seeing out of the Cowboys so far is they're going to have to get in a lot of shootouts to win games I don't think this is going to be one of those games. I think the Eagles are going to keep this close. They'll have a chance to win at the end, and if you give me those three points, I feel pretty good, especially since the fact that home field advantage is eroding in the NFL.

I don't give the Cowboys much home field edge at all in this game. Really like the Eagles here. Sprinkle some on that money line. It might pay off for you on Monday Night Football to end your football week.

So to recap, we had a ton of bad beats on the weekend but we're going to make it up with Eagles plus 3 on Monday night.
