CHARLES MCDONALD: Maybe a quarterback who doesn't quite have the physical gifts of that, but is also producing and has gotten you a lot of flak on Twitter. You're Brock Purdy take and the 49ers Twitter. Would you like to apologize to those people?

STEVEN RUIZ: No. The thing I don't understand is like quarterback rankings are inherently subjective.

STEVEN RUIZ: Like it's my opinion. It's like what I value in quarterbacks. Like why are you so upset that he's that low? But like my explanation is that we just embellish the things that he is good at and the things that are helping him succeed. Like he is an accurate quarterback based on like league-average baselines. But he's not more accurate than Dak Prescott. He doesn't like make decisions better than Geno Smith.

People do the thing like, "Well, what's important quarterback?" And it's accuracy and like making the right decisions. As if like Patrick Mahomes isn't doing it on a completely different level than Purdy is.

STEVEN RUIZ: Or guys like that.

CHARLES MCDONALD: Yeah. It's tough to argue against sometimes because you just look at Brock's stat lines and they're outrageous. They're outrageous, dude. One of the things that I struggle with is going back to someone else and saying, this guy that's putting up a perfect passer rating every week, he's just kind of like OK.
