Zdeno Chara is a defenseman for the Washington Capitals, and if it feels weird to read that sentence, it might even stranger to see him on the ice wearing a Caps practice jersey.
That's what happened Tuesday when Chara was able to join his new Capitals teammates for training camp practice. The former Boston Bruins captain had previously been in quarantine after traveling to the Washington D.C. area last week and missed Monday's session.

Chara is the oldest player on the Capitals roster at 43 years old. Several of his teammates were very young or not even born when he made his NHL debut in the 1997-98 season.

Chara and the Capitals will play against the Bruins eight times this season because Boston and Washington are division rivals in the league's new East division. The first matchup at TD Garden is scheduled for March 3.
