New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones fumbled the football during Week 9 action, and appeared to illegally grab the leg of Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns. A video of the play went up on the jumbotron in Carolina, and fans appeared to believe it was a dirty play.

It’s definitely not a legal play, and it probably should’ve drawn an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The only explanation is that Jones thought Burns had the ball — and the quarterback was trying to tackle him. Whatever Jones’ reasoning, it was a controversial moment, with Burns going down with an injury on that same leg. He left the game with an injury.
