It takes a League Pass account (and, if you live east of the Mississippi, a fair amount of caffeine) to notice, but Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins is having a fantastic second season. Freed from the frustrations of his rookie year, and the dodgy relationship he had with former Kings coach Paul Westphal, Cousins is averaging 17.5 points, over 11 rebounds and 2.4 combined blocks/steals in only 30 minutes a night. And recently,
Rocklin Porsche of Rocklin, Calif., decided to surprise him by turning his loaner Porsche Panamera into a keeper:
Good thing it's the Panamera, because we can't see the 6-10 Boogie fitting into any other car that Porsche makes. I said "car,"
gearheads. This news comes on the same day that Cousins was quoted as saying some pretty candid, accurate and engaging stuff on court about San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan, which inspired Duncan to fawn over Cousins following the Spurs' 117-112 win on Wednesday night. From the Sacramento Bee:
"He's getting better and better," Duncan, the Spurs forward, told reporters after the game. "Every time we play them he's getting better. He's getting more comfortable with his role. He's expanded his game and he always plays hard, so he's getting better."
As for the second-year player Cousins, he said he turned to Duncan at one point during the game and told the 35-year-old veteran: "(Shoot) you're good."
(Shoot) yeah, Tim is.

And Cousins is getting there as well, if he's not (shoot)-level good already.
As the Bee points out, DMC is averaging over 27 and 13 in his last five games, growing more and more comfortable working under Kings coach Keith Smart. Sacramento remains stuck in the midst of an unending rebuilding project, but it also pulled two absolute winners out of the last two drafts in Cousins and guard Isaiah Thomas, and you can only stay crummy for so long with players like these on the court.
Though Sacramento usually finds a way to prolong it.)
And though we don't like to hand out free ad space here at Ball Don't Lie, let me point out again that Porsche manufactures exquisite automobiles.
(It could happen. Are you with me, Rocklin?)
