Victor Oladipo to undergo season-ending surgery on right quadriceps tendon
The Miami Heat's Victor Oladipo era is over after four games played.
The Heat announced Wednesday that the guard will undergo season-ending surgery on his right quadriceps tendon. There is currently no timetable for his return.

Oladipo has been out since April 8, when he left with a knee injury. He underwent surgery on the same quadriceps tendon when it ruptured in January 2019. That injury knocked Oladipo for an entire year, making his return the following January.
The Heat acquired Oladipo at the trade deadline hoping the former All-Star — and pending free agent — would give them a boost come playoff time, but that won't be happening now. In exchange for Oladipo, the Heat sent Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley to the Houston Rockets.

The surgery will end what has been an eventful season for Oladipo, which began with the Indiana Pacers. After reports of Oladipo's disinterest in staying with the Pacers long term, the team traded him to the Rockets as part of the four-team James Harden blockbuster.
Oladipo was supposed to give the Rockets an All-Star to help them contend without Harden, but the team quickly collapsed. That led to yet another trade to yet another hopeful contender, but Oladipo's Heat career will now end with a total of four games in which he averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
Oladipo will enter this offseason as one of the NBA's more intriguing free agents, but another surgery on that quad will likely be a concern as teams try to figure out if he can recapture his old All-Star form.
