While it isn’t particularly clear if Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal would have solved the Boston Celtics‘ shooting woes against his team on Saturday with his own efficiency somewhat suspect for the game with Beal going 12-for-32 on the night, it certainly wouldn’t bother Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum if he ended up with Boston in the future.

After that debacle of a shooting night for the Celtics, NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin spoke with Tatum about playing with his lifelong friend, and specifically if he had ever tried to recruit Beal to Boston so the duo could team up in the NBA.

“We’ve talked about it plenty of times,” revealed Tatum.

“I think, more so, just thinking about how cool it would be to play with him,” he added. “Just how we grew up and how close we are.”

“It’s something I’ve always dreamed about. We didn’t get the opportunity with the USA team (in the Tokyo Olympics this past summer), but we did get to play with each other in the All-Star game last year, which was a special moment.”

“Playing in the NBA with your big brother,” he asked rhetorically. “Who wouldn’t want that?”

Such a move could of course come at the trade deadline if both teams feel such a move might be in their best interest. It’s not out of the question that it could happen via clearing space for a free agency signing once Beal’s current deal ends this summer.

But, both teams have a lot of basketball to play before any of the pertinent parties could reasonably make an informed decision about the short-term wisdom of such a move.
