‘We’ve just got to have the right mindset this whole offseason,’ says Boston’s Derrick White of what comes next for the Celtics

So close, yet still so far to go to hang Banner 18 for the Boston Celtics, having fallen two wins short of an NBA title in the 2022 Finals. “We obviously had a great season but it wasn’t enough to clear the hurdle of the finals,” related reserve guard Derrick White of his team’s performance the night before, which saw the Golden State Warriors win it all in Game 6.

White doesn’t plan on basking in the afterglow of what his team was able to do, however. “Personally, I’m just going to be in the gym working on shooting, getting stronger, just all the little things that will make a difference between winning and losing,” explained the former San Antonio Spur.

“Having your mind and your body ready to go from training camp, understanding that we’ve got that final hurdle, we’ve got to clear it and it isn’t going to be guaranteed.

“We’ve just got to have the right mindset this whole offseason,” added White, who was traded to the team from San Antonio and often looked out of sorts trying to find his niche with his new team on the fly.

As the Colorado State product suggests, more time to settle into his role while the team makes the requisite consolidatory moves to go all-in on contention should go a long way towards producing a more desirable outcome should Boston get back to such rarified postseason air.
