UWS women's hockey coach Laughlin to retire

Mar. 5—SUPERIOR — Wisconsin-Superior announced the retirement of women's hockey head coach Dan Laughlin in a news release on Tuesday, March 5.

In 21 seasons behind the bench, Laughin earned exactly 300 victories, finishing with an overal record of 300-209-44.

A 1994 UWS graduate, Laughlin coached in the United States Hockey League before coming back to Superior as an assistant coach for the women's program in the 2002-03 season, taking over the top job the following year.

UWS won three Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season titles, one playoff championship and reached the NCAA tournament in 2006 and 2008.

Laughlin coached Erin Kegley and Gina Baranzelli to conference player of the year awards, with Kegley being named a four-time All-American from 2004-07.
