Utah mascot Jazz Bear finds a (not entirely willing) dance partner in NBA referee Mark Ayotte (Video)

Ball Don't Lie

With the better-than-you-probably-think Utah Jazz — playing .500 ball since their 1-14 start and scoring like a just-south-of-league average offense since Nov. 25, per NBA.com's stat tool — holding a double-digit lead over the Denver Nuggets midway through the fourth quarter on Monday night, the positive vibes were strong inside EnergySolutions Arena. When the positive vibes are strong, beloved mascot Jazz Bear gets to steppin'. When Jazz Bear gets to steppin', he starts looking for a dance partner. When Jazz Bear's looking for a dance partner, and you're not busy doing something else, you're basically a sitting duck.

That's how NBA referee Mark Ayotte wound up shaking a tailfeather on Monday.

Your outstretched hand says you'd prefer to stop dancing and return to your appointed task of overseeing the Jazz's Alec Burks-led 118-103 win over the Nuggets, Mr. Ayotte, but those hips ... well, let's just say they'd never be convicted of perjury.

If you're reading this, Jazz Bear — and I assume you are — I'd like to request that you make the same move the next time Joey Crawford's in town to officiate a game. Sure, he might get all mad and make a point of showing you up in front of your adoring Salt Lake City public. Then again, though, he might be way more down to get down than some might think:

I'm just saying: It's worth a shot.

Hat-tip to FTW.
