USC Aiken's Dixon named Peach Belt Player of the Week again

Mar. 19—USC softball catcher Austyn Dixon has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league office.

Dixon, a native of Kings Mountain, N.C., guided the Pacers to a 3-1 week.

In last Monday's win over USC Beaufort to wrap up the series sweep, she went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a home run.

After picking up a single in Saturday afternoon's opener at Georgia College, Dixon had a 3-for-4 outing in the Pacers' 11-2 victory in five innings in the nightcap. She had two doubles and drove in two. In the series finale Sunday, Dixon accounted for a solo round-tripper to start the scoring in the 3-1 victory.

For the week, she went 7-for-14 with five extra base hits — two home runs, a triple and two doubles. Dixon drove in four runs and scored twice.

For the season, Dixon is batting .383 and leads the team with nine doubles, seven home runs and 30 RBI. She was also named PBC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 5 and 26.

The Pacers will be on the road this weekend for a PBC series at Columbus State. The teams are set to play a doubleheader Saturday and the series finale on Sunday.
