USA TODAY Sports’ final 1st-round mock has Anthony Richardson out of top 10
Only hours now remain ahead of the 88th annual edition of the 2023 NFL draft held in Kansas City, Missouri, which starts on Thursday, April 27, and runs until Saturday, April 29. While the league prepares for its spring festivities, the media and fans have been wondering where their favorite players will go and who their favorite teams select.
USA TODAY Sports’ Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz released his final first-round mock draft on Thursday morning that has a bit of a twist to it as it includes two top quarterback prospects dropping out of the top 10. One of those players is former Florida Gator Anthony Richardson, who he projects to be taken at No. 20 overall by the Seattle Seahawks.
Whether determining his draft position or pro potential, it’s not easy to find a ceiling or a floor for Richardson. At this point in the first round, however, a 6-4, 244-pound pocket passer with 4.43-second speed in the 40-yard dash and scintillating skills as a deep thrower might be too attractive for Carroll to ignore.
The most recent UF alumni taken in the first round of the draft are cornerback Kaiir Elam (2022, No. 23), tight end Kyle Pitts (2021, No. 4), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (2021, No. 20) and cornerback CJ Henderson (2020, No. 9).
