U.S. Open betting: Rory McIlroy is the favorite after RBC Canadian Open win

Rory McIlroy’s win at the RBC Canadian Open has made him the sole favorite for the U.S. Open.

McIlroy is now at +1100 at BetMGM to win the U.S. Open after beating Tony Finau by two shots on Sunday for his 21st career PGA Tour win. McIlroy was at +1200 with Justin Thomas and Scottie Scheffler ahead of the Canadian Open, but he’s now ahead of both on the board at BetMGM.

Thomas finished third to McIlroy and was four shots back in Toronto. He’s the No. 2 favorite at +1200 while Scheffler is now with defending U.S. Open champion Jon Rahm at +1400. Scheffler finished in a tie for 18th north of the border after breaking 70 in three of his four rounds.

Rahm has made just two starts since he won the Mexico Open to begin the month of May. He finished in a tie for 48th at 6-over par in the PGA Championship and in a tie for 10th at the Memorial two weeks ago.

McIlroy is looking for his second U.S. Open win. He won the 2011 U.S. Open at Congressional by three strokes.

Cam Smith, Patrick Cantlay, and Xander Schauffele are the No. 5 favorites at +2200. Smith won the Players Championship earlier this season and Schauffele has never finished outside the top 10 at a U.S. Open. Cantlay has finished in the top three in three of his last four starts. The only non-top three came at the PGA Championship as Cantlay missed the cut.

In addition to being the favorite to win, McIlroy is now the top golfer to finish in the top five at +200 ahead of Thomas at +250 and Rahm and Scheffler at +275. McIlroy is at +110 to finish in the top 10 while Thomas is at +125 and Rahm and Scheffler are each at +140.

Thomas is the favorite to be the top-finishing American at +700 while Scheffler is at +top 750. Cantlay is at +1200 to be the top U.S. golfer along with Will Zalatoris and Schauffele. Jordan Spieth and Sam Burns are at +1400 while Collin Morikawa is at +1600.
