Updated FedEx Cup Playoff points standings (through the BMW Championship)

Golf Digest

The dramatic part of the tournament inside the tournament at each of the FedEx Cup Playoff event is watching who moves into the next safe FedEx Cup points cutline and who falls out and sees their season come to an end. This was the case again this past week at the BMW Championship, where beyond Keegan Bradley walking off with the win, there was the movement around the top 30 line to determine who would advance to play at East Lake in the final event of the 2017-'18 season.

The surprise? Jordan Spieth falling outside the top 30 after having qualified for the Tour Championship each of the last five years. He was one of two players who were inside the Tour Championship cut only to fall out after their play at Aronimink (the other being Emiliano Grillo).

Conversely, Bradley and Xander Schauffele jumped from the outside into the Tour Championship with their performances in the BMW (Schauffele finished tied for third).

Below is the updated FedEx Cup points list after play at the BMW. For those competing at East Lake, the points reset to allow all 30 players in the field to have chance to win the FedEx Cup title if they win the Tour Championship. If any of the top five win the Tour Championship, they are guaranteed to win the FedEx Cup title, too.
