Weakside defensive end
2019 Moore defensive end JJ Weaver is a highly regarded member of Kentucky's talented class of rising junior football players. Weaver recently camped at Vanderbilt and scored an offer and shortly thereafter the Ivy League came calling in the form of a scholarship offer from Yale. Weaver now holds six offers from the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Yale.
This past weekend, on June, 17th, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound edge rusher camped at Louisville and received a lot of attention from the UofL staff. He had the following to say about his most recent trip to Louisville.
"It was great, coach Pete (Nochta), coach LD (Scott), and (Mike) Summers, always show love," remarked Weaver.
It is always interesting when a prospect who already holds a commitable offer from a certain university decides to camp there. Usually that is a sign that the prospect is trying to get a feel for his position coach's style. Weaver also said he will be back for UofL's "Light up the Ville" camp, which is always a big draw for recruits from near and far.
Weaver didn't name a leader yet but did say he's looking for the right combination of academics and early playing time. He conceded Louisville and Notre Dame best fit this criteria at the moment.
A native of Broward County, Florida, Weaver plans to return home to visit family for the Fourth of July. While he's there he intends to visit Miami and South Florida. The talented 2019 prospect doesn't plan on camping, but rather hopes to visit the two campuses and meet the coaching staffs.
Kentucky Preps will be in attendance for Light up the Ville and we will get an update on Weaver at that time.
