United States men's national soccer team Concacaf World Cup qualifier vs. El Salvador: Live stream and TV info, USMNT roster

The USMNT continues its quest to qualify for the 2022 World Cup when it takes on El Salvador at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday night.

Columbus has long been a comfortable home venue for the U.S. men's national soccer team. The USMNT has a 8-1-2 record in World Cup qualifiers played in Columbus, including four "Dos a Cero" triumphs over Mexico, the most recent being on Nov. 12.

Thursday's game will be the first of three (at Canada on Sunday and vs. Honduras on Wednesday) in the next-to-last round of Concacaf qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which will be held from Nov. 21-Dec. 18. Conditions likely are going to be frigid for each qualifying game, given Sunday's game is in Hamilton, Ontario, and then the U.S. hosts Honduras in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The USMNT currently sits in second place in the Concacaf World Cup qualifying standings. Canada leads with 16 points, followed by the U.S. with 15. Mexico and Panama are tied with 14 points apiece (though, El Tri gets the tiebreaker due to a better goal differential). Costa Rica sits in fifth place with nine points, followed by Jamaica (7), El Salvador (6) and Honduras (3).

The final round of World Cup qualifiers starts on March 24, when Mexico will host the USMNT. The U.S. then will host Panama in Orlando, Florida, on March 27, and finish qualifying at Costa Rica on March 30.

The top three teams automatically qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while the fourth-place team must compete in an inter-continental playoff.

USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams (4) takes on Costa Rica's Youstin Salas during the last World Cup qualifier played at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio. The USMNT won that game, 2-1.
