UNCP soccer adds Fleck, Harris to '21 roster

Jul. 21—PEMBROKE — UNC Pembroke soccer head coach Lars Andersson put the finishing touches on his 2021 roster with the additions of incoming freshman Madison Fleck and sophomore transfer Ashleigh Harris on Tuesday afternoon. Both student-athletes will be eligible for immediate competition with the Braves.

"We are thrilled to add Maddie and Ashleigh to our squad, and we can't wait to welcome them, the rest of the 2021 recruiting class and our returners back to campus for preseason in August," Andersson said.

A Swansboro native, Fleck picked up all-region nods last season after registering 10 goals and five assists in pacing Swansboro High School to an 8-3-2 clip. She was decorated with all-conference honors as well.

"We are thrilled to have added another player from Onslow County," Andersson said. "Maddie is a superb athlete with a tremendous work ethic and a passion for the game of soccer. She fits our academic and athletic mold perfectly."

Harris, a product of Oceanside, Calif., played her first two collegiate seasons at Campbell where she logged time in 28 career games, while also tallying two goals and as many assists. She picked up Big South Conference Freshman of the Week accolades in her rookie season after netting a goal in consecutive games with Mount St. Mary's and Saint Peter's.

"Ashleigh comes to UNC Pembroke following two successful seasons with the Campbell University soccer program where she was a regular in the starting lineup on a team that captured the 2021 Big South Conference title," Andersson said. "She has great pace, tremendous work ethic and is a terrific 1 vs. 1 player in the final third. She can score as well as set her teammates up, and presents a constant threat to her opponents."

The incoming freshman class also includes Kassie Jesrani, a forward from Holly Springs, whose signing was previously announced.

The Braves are set to kick off their season on August 24 with a scrimmage against UNC Women's Club Soccer-White team. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Lumbee River EMC Stadium. Admission to all 2021 home soccer games is free.
