UNC offers former Princeton lineman in transfer portal

With studs like Drake Maye and Devontez Walker leaving for the NFL Draft, UNC’s football team needs all the help it can get offensively.

Maye and Walker make the flashy plays, but those wouldn’t be possible without solid blocking from the offensive line.

Carolina has the possibility of losing five offensive linemen, who were either 2023 seniors or graduate students. This doesn’t bode well for an offense with a brand new quarterback under center, which will either be Conner Harrell or Texas A&M transfer Max Johnson.

The Tar Heels could be getting some reinforcements up front, though, as they offered Princeton graduate transfer Jalen Travis on Thursday, Jan. 4.

Travis is a mammoth of a human being, checking in at 6’9″ and 315 lbs. on Princeton’s official 2023 roster. He’s been an integral part in the Tigers’ high-scoring offense, which reached the 20-point mark in six games this season.

The two years prior, Princeton finished top two in Ivy League scoring and passing offense.

According to his X account, Travis also holds offers from Iowa State, Rutgers, Kansas, Duke, Houston, South Carolina, Syracuse, Arizona State and Northwestern.

Being able to pry Travis from his other suitors would be a massive get for UNC.
