Ugly social-media reaction to Ravens' Skura used to help charity originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
After a rough game against the New England Patriots last Sunday, Ravens center Matt Skura and his family received "hateful and threatening" messages on social media.
After Skura posted a statement on social media regarding the messages, Ravens writer for Russell Street Report Matt Wise responded to the news with a way to spin it forward.
I want to take it a step further.
Matt Skura helps raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (@PBTF).
If everyone in #RavensFlock gave $1, we would blow away the fundraising goal.
Let's turn something ugly into something positive.

Wise originally posted in support of Skura and then took it a step further inspiring fans to turn something ugly into something positive by donating to Skura's "Pledge It" to raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
In 36 hours of posting the tweet, Wise shared that the "Pledge It" page had $7,500 of new donations turning the ugly side of social media around into a positive.
Over the course of ~36 hours, Matt Skura's @PledgeIt page for @PBTF received ~$7,500.
After blowing past the initial goal of $5,000, the fund has now surpassed $10,000!#RavensFlock REALLY stepped up & turned an ugly situation into something positive. https://t.co/38KQR5JiAG
