Ugly bar fight with Cowboys DL Tyrone Crawford from March leads to charge

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford seems to have avoided a serious charge from a bar fight in March, though the NFL will likely weigh in.

Crawford was involved in the fight, in which a TMZ video showed him fighting bouncers. TMZ, citing court records, said Tuesday that Crawford was charged with one misdemeanor count of unlawful assembly. He pleaded not guilty in April.

Though the charge is relatively minor, the video wasn’t good. And the NFL will presumably look into it.

Tyrone Crawford gets one charge

Crawford not only was taking on bouncers at the Panama City Beach, Florida, bar, but TMZ said he also shoved two police officers.

Via ESPN, an affidavit said there was a fight between patrons and bar security that went out into the street. According to ESPN, the affidavit said Crawford charged toward an officer who was restraining a member of his party "and pushes in between the officer and the defendant's party," hindering the officer "from detaining this individual."

According to TMZ, a staffer told police Crawford’s group was bothering a female bartender inside the bar and they were told to go to an outside area or leave the property.

Crawford is regular starter for Cowboys

Crawford has been a full-time starter for the Cowboys for five seasons. He started all 15 games he played in last season, had a career-best 5.5 sacks and was a big part of Dallas’ NFC East championship team.

The Cowboys at least have defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence signed to a long-term deal, avoiding a holdout. Randy Gregory is suspended again, hurting Dallas’ line depth.

Crawford might not get suspended over the bar fight. But it wasn’t a good look.
