UFC on ESPN 24 pre-event facts: Donald Cerrone gets another shot at history

The second event in a busy May schedule for the UFC goes down Saturday with UFC on ESPN 23 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card airs on ESPN following prelims on ESPN+.

The main event features a short-notice matchup between strawweight contenders Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2 MMA, 3-1-2 UFC) and Michelle Waterson (18-8 MMA, 6-4 UFC), who have agreed to fight at flyweight due to the lack of preparation time.

Marina Rodriguez vs. Michelle Waterson

He's 6-6 with one no contest when fighting in the weight class. Cerrone's 26 appearances since 2014 in UFC competition are most in the company. Magny’s 11 decision victories in UFC competition are tied for third most in company history behind St-Pierre (12) and Diego Sanchez (12). Magny is the only fighter in modern UFC history to make five or more octagon appearances in consecutive years. He went 4-1 in 2015 after going 5-0 in 2014. Gillespie has been controlled by his opponent on the ground for just eight seconds in UFC lightweight competition, the least amount of time for anyone with five fights in divisional history.

Hill is 7-7 since she returned to the UFC for a second stint in February 2017. Hill's eight victories in UFC strawweight competition are tied for second most in divisional history behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10). Hill's two knockout victories in UFC strawweight competition are tied for second most in divisional history behind Rose Namajunas (three). Hill's three knockdowns landed in UFC strawweight competition are second most in divisional history behind Namajunas (four). Hill's nine losses in UFC competition are tied second most for any female in company history behind Randa Markos (10).

Ben Rothwell vs. Philipe Lins

Phil Hawes vs. Kyle Daukaus
