UFC bantamweight Sara McMann is on her way to becoming a mother for the second time.

McMann announced on Wednesday that she is already about three months along and is looking forward to her second child, counting it as good timing, as she is currently taking time off to heal some shoulder injuries. She indicated that she has a torn labrum and rotator cuff in each shoulder.

"I’ve been dying to tell the world. The short story: Chad (Bingham) and I started trying after my last fight and that SOB knocked me up immediately. I’m 12 weeks along!" McMan wrote on Instagram.

"The long version: I’ve had bad shoulder injuries my last 2 fights (torn labrum and rotator cuffs in BOTH shoulders). I have to take time off to get healthy no matter what. I’m 37 and I’m getting too close to the time of possibly not being able to conceive. We decided that it was the right time in all aspects."

The one-time UFC bantamweight title challenger has lost her last two fights, but insisted that she is not considering retirement. In fact, she intends to continue training through much of her pregnancy and return to the Octagon after giving birth to her second child.

"Yes, I will still be fighting. My body handles pregnancy very well and I am training thru the majority of it," she said. "Thanks to everyone who is happy for our happiness."

McMann (11-5) last fought in February, losing via a triangle choke to Marion Reneau. That followed a submission loss to Ketlen Vieira last September. Prior to the Vieira bout, McMann had been on a three-fight winning streak, nearly putting herself back into title contention.
