UFC 271 faceoff: Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker have intense staredown at press conference

HOUSTON – Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker came face-to-face for the first time ahead of their middleweight title rematch at the UFC 271 pre-fight press conference.

After answering questions from the media, Adesanya (21-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) and Whittaker (23-5 MMA, 14-3 UFC) got up close and personal.

Adesanya, 32, the reigning UFC middleweight champion, and former titleholder Whittaker, 31, meet Saturday in a championship rematch. The fight tops the UFC 271 lineup, which takes place at Toyota Center and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

The pair first met at UFC 243, where Adesanya defeated Whittaker via knockout to become champion, sparking an impressive title reign. Whittaker has climbed his way back to the top and looks to reclaim the belt from the man who handed him his last loss.
