Paige Bueckers had tons of expectations to live up to her heading into her freshman season at UConn as the No. 1 ranked player in high school.

And she did.

Bueckers was named an AP First Team All-American on Wednesday, receiving 28 first place votes from the national panel of 30 media members. She became just the third freshman ever to earn First Team All-American honors, joining Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris and UConn’s Maya Moore.

The rest of the First Team All-Americans consist of Louisville's Dana Evans, South Carolina's Aliyah Boston, Kentucky's Rhyne Howard, and Baylor's NaLyssa Smith.

Bueckers averaged 19.7 points and 6.1 assists per game on 53.9 percent shooting from the field and 47.4 percent from three. She was named Big East Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, while leading the Huskies to a 24-1 record and a Big East Championship.

UConn earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will attempt to win their 12th National Championship starting on Sunday, March 21 against 16-seed High Point.
